I accidentally knocked over the PS3 that I was borrowing from my brother, and I think I killed the hard drive. Alllllll of the save files are kaput (as well as my GTAV save). He gon' be pissed. Luckily, new hard drives are a dime a dozen these days.

HDD replacement isn't the issue, is the issue that you can't transfer over from the old hard drive anymore because Sony in their infinite wisdom lock down the drives to one console at a time.

I'm so afraid that I'm going to wind up doing this, thank god for Playstation Plus cloud saves.

Well that isn't really a problem for me. Since the HDD itself is dead, I can't transfer saves.

I sure wish I had done that now!

Anymore? I did this successfully once back in 2010. Has shit changed?

Take the HD to a speciallist. They may be able to recover some or all of the data.

How did you knock a PS3 over if it was placed horizontally like it was sup...
Oh...

Blame it on Trevor.

My friend did that to his too... Did you have yours standing up vertically? That's how it happened to his. I've always kept my system horizontal because I'm clumsy and I have clumsy kids and a clumsy dog and a clumsy wife.

Yep. I've learned my lesson now. Horizontal from now on!
